Laser Hair Removal

ABOUT LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Laser hair removal is a highly effective cosmetic treatment that uses concentrated beams of light to target and destroy hair follicles, helping to reduce unwanted hair and prevent future growth.

The laser specifically targets melanin (the pigment in hair), generating heat that damages the follicle and inhibits future hair production.

One of the key benefits of laser hair removal is long-lasting results. With consistent treatments, it can lead to permanent hair reduction. The procedure is precise, targeting dark, coarse hairs without harming the surrounding skin. Most clients describe the sensation as mild, with minimal discomfort during the session.

Laser hair removal typically requires a course of 8 to 12 sessions, depending on the area being treated, hair type, and individual response. Hair grows in cycles, so multiple treatments are necessary to target all follicles effectively.

We use the Cynosure laser system, widely regarded as one of the most advanced technologies available. Known for its versatility, safety, and effectiveness across a broad range of skin tones and hair types, Cynosure ensures reliable results with reduced risk of irritation.

Progress happens in stages, and visible reduction improves with each session as the hair growth cycle is gradually disrupted. Over time, you'll notice finer regrowth, patchy areas, and eventually long-term smoothness.

Preparing for your laser hair removal appointment

  • 1–2 weeks before treatment:

    • Avoid sun exposure and tanning, as tanned skin increases the risk of burns and can make the treatment less effective.

    • Skip self-tanners, which can interfere with the laser and increase the risk of skin discoloration.

    • Do not wax, pluck, or thread the area — these methods remove the hair root, which the laser needs to target. Shaving is fine.

    3–5 days before treatment:

    • Stop using strong skincare products on the treatment area, including retinoids, glycolic or salicylic acids, and anything with Vitamin C, as these can cause irritation.

    24–48 hours before treatment:

    • Shave the treatment area to help the laser target the hair below the skin, not on the surface. Do not wax or pluck.

    • Avoid exfoliating or scrubbing the area, as you want the skin to be calm and free from irritation.

    On the day of treatment:

    • Do not apply lotions, deodorant, perfume, or makeup to the treatment area — the skin should be clean and product-free.

    • Wear loose, comfortable clothing, especially if treating sensitive areas, to avoid friction or irritation.

  • In the first few days, gently cleanse the area with mild soap and lukewarm water. Moisturise daily using a fragrance-free lotion, and avoid scrubbing or exfoliating the area for at least 5–7 days. Wear loose-fitting clothing to prevent irritation or rubbing on the treated skin.

Avoid sun exposure (this is crucial). Stay out of direct sunlight as much as possible for two weeks following your treatment. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50+ daily to any exposed areas. Do not use tanning beds or apply self-tanners during your treatment plan.

  • Yes, hair shedding is completely normal and expected. Around 7–14 days after your treatment, you may notice hairs beginning to fall out. This is a positive sign that the treatment is working. Avoid plucking or waxing the area, but you can gently exfoliate with a washcloth after about a week to help the shedding process along.

  • Yes, you can continue your treatment while on holiday, but it’s essential to protect your skin. Be diligent with sun protection, avoid direct sun exposure, wear protective clothing, and apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30–50+ daily. Following all aftercare and sun exposure guidelines is crucial to ensure the safety and effectiveness of your treatment.

  • Most people describe the sensation as a quick snap or the flick of a rubber band. Pain levels can vary depending on the treatment area and individual sensitivity. Our laser device features built-in cooling technology to minimise discomfort and ensure a more comfortable experience.
